Grand Architecture and Colours Of Impaired Vision

The aim of the project was to introduce blind children into the world of contemporary architecture as well as to help sighted children feel the perspective of others with impaired vision. Through audio description and touch mock-ups of the buildings, the children for the first time have the possibility to understand better the world of architecture. Toy blocks designed by Pani Jurek & Gang Design showed the rules of building construction. The event was accompanied by a specially released tactilegraphic and braille books, translated as classic alphabetic writing through which children learned about seeing the world closer to blind children, stimulated the sense of touch and enriched the language with new interesting phrases with colourful audio description. The project promoted the good practice in architecture and let the architects confront blind art recipients, their needs and expectations.
